Come along and learn about non violent direct action in the spirit of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, from our faciliator Mara Bonacci of Friends of the Earth Melbourne’s Anti-nuclear and Clean Energy Collective.

Learn theory, legal issues, codes of conduct, role play and planning an action.

BYO lunch. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Entry by donation. All proceeds to the campaign against nuclear expansion in SA.

Movie & dinner night: “Dirt” the movie 2nd Feb

Adelaide Sustainability Centre invites you to a free movie night at the Joinery with a shared community dinner. This will be of particular interest to Fair Food Adelaide folk.

Film Night & Shared Community Dinner

DIRT! The Movie–narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis–brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has. It shares the stories of experts from all over the world who study and are able to harness the beauty and power of a respectful and mutually beneficial relationship with soil.

But more than the film and the lessons that it teaches, DIRT! The Movie is a call to action. “When humans arrived 2 million years ago, everything changed for dirt. And from that moment on, the fate of dirt and humans has been intimately linked.”

How can you affect that relationship for the better?

SolarReserve – CSP with molten salt energy storage technology
SolarReserve is a leading global developer of utility-scale solar power projects headquartered in California, USA with offices in Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, Middle East and Europe. The company has commercialised a proprietary advanced solar thermal technology with integrated energy storage that enables firm, fully dispatchable, non-intermittent electricity to be generated from the sun, day or night. SolarReserve has successfully financed and constructed more than US$1.8 billion of large scale solar projects worldwide, with development and long-term power contracts for 482 megawatts of solar projects. Daniel will discuss SolarReserve Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) with molten salt energy storage technology, its operational Crescent Dunes project and provide an update on SolarReserve’s plans to build the Aurora Solar Energy Project in Port Augusta, the first of a number of projects planned for South Australia.

How Climate Change will Hurt Australia’s Poor

This forum, part of Power To The Poor – Silent No More (Anti-Poverty Week Conference), will explore the impacts of change change on Australia’s poor, including the unemployed, pensioners, sole parents, the homeless, and others on low incomes.

Speakers will include Dr. Scott Hanson-Easy and Dr. Danielle Every, from the Vulnerable Communities Network of the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility.

These impacts, including major health issues, more severe weather, rising energy costs, and others effects, will make life even harder for those already living in poverty, and out of work.

So what can we do? What does climate change mean for our fight for a more egalitarian, just society?

‘Lettuce’ offer you all the tools for how, and why, to grow your own organic food, save your own seeds and support those in your local community doing the same.

$4 entry (children free) gains you access to 3 stages of 20 FREE WORKSHOPS & SPEAKERS (no need to book, Program will be released soon) plus an all day music stage.
